Lauren Slater

With over 25 years of experience in practice, teaching, and training, I strive to create a warm, safe, and playful space for growth, healing, and self-discovery. Raised in sunny Encinitas, CA, I was introduced early to meditation and the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. At 17, I found Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga with Tim Miller, a direct student of Sri Pattabhi Jois, beginning a lifelong devotion to yoga and mindful movement.

I hold a BA in Dance and Exercise Science from UC Santa Barbara, 200/500 E-RYT from Yoga Tree SF, and Classical Pilates certifications from The Pilates Center of SF and Metropolitan Pilates. I’ve taught yoga for over 20 years and Pilates for 10—first in San Francisco, now in Seattle.

My classes combine asana, deep core work, myofascial fitness, pranayama, and intelligent sequencing. Rooted in alignment and anatomy, my style is dynamic, empowering, and joyfully embodied. A former professional dancer, I understand the desire to feel strong, limber, and grounded.

I live in Columbia City with my husband Doug, and find joy in reading, live music, fashion, history, cooking, snowboarding, and time in nature. I’m passionate about helping others heal and thrive through all life stages.
